A team of journalists asks women in the city center to describe the “perfect man.” Then they scour the streets for someone who fits the brief, and find a petty bourgeois who is overjoyed to hear he has been chosen – with the ‘prize’ of a night with a film diva. He prepares in anticipation, keeping it a secret from his wife, but after hours of waiting at the appointed place the diva never appears; instead, the journalists turn up, march him to the studio and hand him a typed text to read – an ecstatic account of a marvellous night that never was.
