Landscape in the mist

Voula and Alexandros, two young siblings, are told by their mother that their father is a migrant worker in Germany. One day, they board a train they believe will take them there. As they travel, they are repeatedly confronted by harsh realities that delay them at various stops around Greece. Their journey becomes a difficult initiation into life and adulthood, as they search for the father who stands for hope.

The "Trilogia tis Siopis" (The Trilogy of Silence) concludes with Topio stin Omichli (Landscape in the Mist, 1988), following Taxidi sta Kythira (Voyage to Cythera, 1984) and O Melissokomos (The Beekeeper, 1986). This film features the unique cinematic appearance of Michalis Zeke and the debut of Tania Palaiologou as a little girl (11 years old). Principal photography took place in Athina (Athens), Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki), Ioannina (Ioannina), and Oinoi (Oinoi). It is the only Greek film to have won the first prize at the European Film Awards, which were then still known as "Felix". The work was released even in Brazil, Japan, and Finland, while with 40,000 tickets, it ranked 2nd among 12 Greek films of the season. The band The Last Drive participates with the songs «The Night Of The Phantom» and «Every Night» with their name being properly mentioned in the credits.
